April Ending I thought April had just begin Now the ending can be seen. Wondering how time flies  The seniors keep looking up the sky. We can't stop the world from rotating, Just hoping it don't move so fast. We have 24 hours each day,  Do we spend it to make our memories last. How often we reflect on past holidays  That we traveled during younger years gone by, The photos and videos we took  Bought tears to our eyes . We thank the development of technology, That enables us to capture those moments. With just a phone in our hands, We can freeze the days of our enjoyment. The day will come when we close our eyes, And we find ourselves looking down from the sky. How would we feel in that moment, Would it be regret, relief or just say BYE. This is My Singapore  This is Singapore  My country, my home  The place that I grow up in A place previously unknown.  The British took over Singapore  After world war two They rule and develop the city Based on England's rule.  Citizens in the early days  Follow and obey as told  Migrants from other countries  Come here looking for gold. Children were taught to sing God Save the Queen  Impressing upon the locals That ang mohs were supreme.  As citizens achieved education  They yearn for self control  A man named Lee Kuan Yew Finally achieved this goal.  He ruled Singapore with iron hands Sending all opponents away  Together with more capable colleagues  Singapore began to see glorious days.              时 光 一 去 永 不 回                  往事 只 能 回 味           The Passage Of Time  In the quiet of the night, time slips away,   Whispering secrets of yesterday.   Moments fleeting, like grains of sand,   Slip through our fingers, couldn't stay in our hand.  The sun rises and sets, a daily routine  Each day a new chapter, a new beginning. Seasons change, painting the world anew Coloring the land in different hues. Each tick of the clock, a step into the past, Moments slipping away, it's speeding too fast. The future beckons, a promise we don't know, But the past, once gone, moments  we can't hold. Christmas comes but once a year  Sound of merry making you will hear Supermarkets all hawking their wares Together with Santa standing everywhere.  Twinkling lights and Christmas songs  Perform by choir cannot be wrong  Not forgetting the Christmas tree Decorating our home for all to see. Turkey and bacon served with pride  Long lost friends appearing, what a sight Wine and liquor must be there Showing the host's love and care. But the day should belong to our Lord  The Bible has all the record Christ our Lord was born on Christmas day  Blessing us with His healing and grace.  Christian would gather in church to pray Thanking God for Christmas day Listening to what  Christ had said  Teaching us to mend our ways.  So the spirit of Christmas is not lost  Because we are the child of God  Honoring Him in every way  Praising Him day by day. Singapore National Day  Singapore's national flags hanging bright, A sea of red and white under the sunny sky.  As nation turns fifty-nine, Citizens murmur, "Are we doing fine?" Singapore belongs to the citizens,  Not to the dirty PAP's dozens.  In this national day's parade,  They shamelessly descent facing people in the esplanade.  Leaders once held in high esteem, Now citizens face a wakeup dream. Promising much, delivering less, Citizens left in great distress. Millionaires welcomed with open hands, Buy up properties of well known brand.  While locals struggle to find space to build a home, Can only find something in a distance zone.  Ministers care not citizen's plight,  Cause their pockets line with citizens' supply.  They live in bungalows with land aplenty,  While many citizens homes are empty.  They travel in luxury cars,  With bodyguards not too far. The Lunar 7th. Month The seventh month arrives with an eerie  cry, A time of spirits, ghosts, and wandering eyes. In the shadow of the seventh moon, When twilight twinkle, spirits appear too soon. The hungry ghosts begin to roam, From the graves they leave their empty home. The living tremble with anxious feet, While others welcome the hungry spirits. With open arms and generous hands, Hoping for blessings in this haunted land. Joss sticks, paper burning bright, To appease them through the endless night. The air is thick with eerie call, As past and present touch once more. On silent streets the homeless sprites wail, Ghostly feet walking along the trail. In this month the veil is thin, Between our world and where they are now in. A time of awe, a time of fear A month of high regards, year after year. My Hospital Stay It's not everyone's wish  To be confined in a hospital bed, When your health misbehave, Hospital is your resting place.    In '99 my health disobeyed,  Chemo and radiation to keep cancer at bay. Cancers contained, side effect appeared, Taste gone, throat dry, consult doctors in fear.  Few years down the road  Health appears to improve,  Then came my sciatic nerve Making legs hard to move.  The pain and discomforts during treatment days, Only sufferers know the pain to put disease away. Needles and tubes, a regular visit  Drawing blood for test, a daily practice.  Another hospital stay for a month,  Eating hospital's food for dinner and lunch.  Early morning nurses pushed patients for shower, Tasks to be finished within the hour.  Preferred to shower by myself  When other patients were at rest. Its The Weekend  The weekend arrives a sweet release, From weekdays' grind, a time to breathe.  The stress and chaos, the noise and the fray, Behind us as we welcome Saturday. The morning sleeps in, with a lazy grin, No alarm clocks, no rushing in. The coffee brews, the handphone unfold, A leisurely pace for young and old. The day unwinds, with a gentle stride, A time for adventure, or a relaxing hide. The world outside beckons, with its vibrant hue, Or lay on the couch with a love that's true. Sunday appears with a softer tone, A day of reflection, a time alone. The weekend's magic, a brief escape A time to recharge and to heal the ache.  The weekend's charm, a treasured delight, A respite from the daily fight. At the year's midpoint, we pause and reflect, A world in turmoil, causing mental stress.  Wars rage on, again and again  Cries of sorrow, citizens in pain. We hold on to a glimmer of light For a chance of peace, can nations unite. To heal the wounds and mend the tears, Can there be a way, to calm the fears. Earth trembled in Taiwan's land, Nature's power we can't understand.  Buildings crumbled, lives upturned, In the quake's aftermath, the pain we learned. High above in the sky so wide, SQ321 faced turbulence, passengers taken by surprise. Injuries disrupting a routine flight, Bashing hope of holidays sight.  May the second half of this year brings a change  A world where love and peace can be arranged.  Where wars subside and earthquakes cease, And humanity find a world at peace. Our Love for Dogs Dogs are sent by our heavenly King Giving us joy and the love it brings.  Hugging them tight and feeling their fur Preferring their bark to the cat's purr . When taking them to the park They had been trained not to depart  Staying by your side all the time  Ensuring you are safe from all crime.  They are our pets and  bodyguards  We love them with all our heart  Our days are filled with happiness  Their love for us is instantaneous.  We can't bear to be away from them  Cause they are our precious gems. Those Early Days  The days are getting shorter  The ending is near We can only wait and pray To the Lord we place our fear. We had been blessed  The day that we were born  Being young and carefree  With no responsibility to perform.  Materials desires were easily available  Spending without a thought  Not knowing the wisdom of saving  Purchased not caring the cost.  Friends were plenty all around Merry making was the norm Alcohol and ladies all at disposal  Life was perfect, no thought for reform.  Knowing a dame I thought an angel With ignorance I pursue with might  The days were fun with laughter  Being blind, could not see the light. Month Of May In the month of May my wish unfolds, To build a blog where my poems can be told. With hopes held high but fears in the way, The thought of tech hurdles keeps me at bay. Not a computer expert I feel lost, The fear of complications, a feature I can't cross. Help arrives in my nephew's kind hand, With videos and guidance, he helps me to understand.
