This is my Singapore

This is My Singapore

This is Singapore

My country, my home

The place that I grow up in

A place previously unknown.

The British took over Singapore

After world war two

They rule and develop the city

Based on England's rule.

Citizens in the early days

Follow and obey as told

Migrants from other countries

Come here looking for gold.

Children were taught to sing

God Save the Queen

Impressing upon the locals

That ang mohs were supreme.

As citizens achieved education

They yearn for self control

A man named Lee Kuan Yew

Finally achieved this goal.

He ruled Singapore with iron hands

Sending all opponents away

Together with more capable colleagues

Singapore began to see glorious days.

Goh Keng Swee convert waste land to industrial estate

Jobs for locals began to escalade

Marketing Singapore to the whole wide world

Targeting foreign investors was preferred.

Ong Teng Cheong the architect of our MRT

Fighting fearlessly when parliament disagree

His efforts in presenting the plan for all to see

Benefiting future population to a great degree.

As the old guards dropped off gradually

Unimaginable things began to unfold

Newbies took over the reign

Their way of governing made us groan .

Paying themselves millions in wages

Putting bigger countries to shame

They pride themselves as Man in White

Claiming corruption is not their game.

Events had occurred

Proving this to be a lie

Their members had been exposed

Getting benefits away from public eyes.

Million dollar in wages

Do they justify the reward

Changing rules to suit themselves

Their “kaki” plays the same record.

Cost of living is going up

Ministers could not feel this way

They proceed with the GST increase

When citizens are crying every day.

What can the public do

To overcome this plight

Calling for more opposition

But 60 percent don't see the light.

Wondering the fate of this nation

Twenty years down the road

With a foreseeable new leader taking over

Can he effectively play the role.

Singapore is my country

A place we live and die

We can only look towards our Lord

Our daily bread is through His supply.
